The rest of the story!

This is just a disclaimer on how the last Blog was sent, I wasn't done editing and arranging the word and low and behold it was sent without my permission. Oh well that's the first time without help, and you can see what happened.

Here are a few more pictures!

Perkes Family Christmas / New Years Party

January 1, 2009

It was fun to have our annual Perkes Christmas party. The Van Orden family was the host of the get together. It was nice to spend the day visiting and doing what we do best "EATING"

As I looked though all these pictures it makes me realize how time flies. All of our babies are all grown up and have babies of their own. Here are a few of the pictures so those that weren't able to be with us can enjoy and those that were can remember.

Well Christmas is over and its time to put things away, what a process.
It was more fun putting it together, but all good things must come to an end. Next year it will be bigger and better, mostly because the kid will be here to enjoy it.

Carroll's New Hobby

This Christmas we decided to spend at home not the cabin. Carroll wanted to make it feel more Christmasy so he decided to pull out his train to put around the tree. We happened to stop at Shopco to pick up one item and low and behold he spotted the little village houses and people.
They happened to be marked down so you know he was in for that. He picked out the best ones and then made plans to return the next day when the manager was in to find out about the displays. As you can see with your own eyes it has become a passion more than a hobby, in fact we have found a couple other stores that are closing out of their villages too. Don't worry kids Dad has mellowed in his old age. Rylee spent Christmas with us and she just loved it and he loved sharing it with her. Now he is talked about how cool it will be to show all the kids next year. At this rate I think we will need another house just for his new "hobby"

vampire store

I WOULD IMAGINE YOU PROBABLY THINK THIS HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH HALLOWEEN, IT BEING SO CLOSE. BUT NO. I AM SITTING HERE AT WORK HAVING A HEALTHY HIGH PROTEIN SNAK, BECAUSE IT IS ALMOST TIME FOR MY BI-WEEKLY APPOINTMENT AT THE VAMPIRE STORE. I CALL IT SUCH BECAUSE I GO, SPEND ABOUT AN HOUR AND HAVE ABOUT A QUART OF MY BLOOD PLASMA WITHDRAWN. THE REAL NAME IS BIOLIFE PLASMA SERVICES. WHY WOULD SOMEONE WANT TO GO IN TWICE A WEEK TO GET THEIR ARM STUCK WITH A BIG NEEDLE AND HAVE THEM DRAIN MY BLOOD. (IT'S ACTUALLY PRETTY INTERESTING) I FEEL GOOD ABOUT IT, BECAUSE THERE IS A LARGE NEED FOR PLASMA FOR MEDICAL REASONS. JUST SO YOU DON'T THINK TO HIGHLY OF ME, THEY ALSO COMPENSATE FOR YOUR TIME. REMEMBER HYDRATE---HYDRATE----HYDRATE.......OFF TO THE VAMPIRE STORE I GO.

The Ironrite

I found this treasure I have been looking for, forever THE IRONRITE!!!

For you that have no clue its something I used as a little girl. I could only iron hankies or pillow cases. Carroll said his mom had one too and he got good enough to do jeans!!

Well I know you wonder what the heck I need it for, but I do have lots of ideas. Katie was nice enough to find a site on the internet that had lots of people that had one. They exchanged lots of ideas and reason why they even had one. Well to say the least its fun ( Yes Heather Katie & Lindsey)

Now that I know how to get pictures on this thing, maybe I can do more. Maybe Dad will try it out!

I (Katie) am starting this blog for my parents so they too can be cool like their kids who all have blogs. :) I'm imagining some of their future posts... I'm pretty sure the first post will be a picture of my Moms new purchase...An ironrite iron. Don't know what that is? Well, neither do the rest of about 90% of the population. But to my Mom (and secretly my Dad) it's a real treasure. If you are intrigued, just keep checking their blog!

Some other posts I'm anticipating are pictures from their many trips and adventures. These guys are trip-a-holics! It doesn't help that us kids have taken the grandkids too far from them. It's a good thing they have Rylee only a few streets away they.

Another post that is sure to come is something along the lines of some new piece of machinery that one or both of them have decided they can't live without. For example the MASSIVE snow plow they got to plow the roads at their cabin. I couldn't quite grasp how big it was until I saw a picture of it parked next to the cabin. I wondered why that huge yellow bus was parked there but then quickly realized, oh yeah, THAT'S the snow plow.

Whatever they post it's sure to be great because that's the kind of people they are...GREAT, AMAZING people. I couldn't ask for better parents and friends. We surely hit the parental jackpot.

Here's just a few pictures to start them off...
